Here at Malthouse Veterinary Group we like to do things a little differently. We are a small and independent team meaning you will always see a friendly familiar face, dedicated to the quality care of your pets.
Compassionate care for your animal is the cornerstone of our practice, and all of our staff have a real interest in providing an individual service with empathy and a smile. We pride ourselves in running an excellent Veterinary GP service, based in the beautiful Shropshire hills.
Registering your pet is free, and we are always happy to discuss our services with you over the phone or pop into the practice!
Veterinary Services & Facilities
We offer an array of services, and our flexible appointment system allows you to see the same vet each time if you so wish. We are appointment only, minimising waiting times for our clients.

- ISFM Cat Friendly Clinic Silver Status with separate cat ward and waiting areas
- All routine veterinary care including vaccinations, microchipping and neutering
- Surgery in custom built operating theatre, including more complex orthopaedic and soft tissue procedures by travelling surgeons.
- In House blood and urine analysis machines, and full imaging suite (X-ray and Ultrasound)
- Pet health care plan providing affordable monthly payments for preventative health care
- Free health checks for newly registered puppies and kittens
- Home visit service

Emergency Service
If you need veterinary attention when we are closed please phone Shrewsbury Pet Hospital on 01743 465554. Their qualified vets and nurses provide a 24/7 dedicated hospital and emergency service, which comes highly recommended by ourselves. Please be aware that because of the nature of out of hours emergencies, a night time or weekend appointment will be more expensive than seeing a vet during usual hours.

Welcome to our Pet Health Club
Here at Malthouse Veterinary Group, we know that a healthy and happy pet requires care and attention, and we have created our Pet Health Club to make preventive health care simple and affordable.
We have included vaccinations to protect your pet against dangerous diseases, treatments to cover them against internal and external parasites and the illnesses they may cause, and regular check-ups, as early diagnosis of health conditions will help your pet live a longer and healthier life.
The Pet Health Club – is not pet insurance, although it is designed to complement it, and can be taken out even if your pet is not insured.
It covers the essential treatments your pet needs throughout their life. By spreading the costs of those essential treatments, it makes looking after your pet more affordable and gives you access to lots of benefits such as:
- 2 six monthly health checks
- Annual vaccinations
- 12 months supply of flea, worm, and parasite prevention
The Pet Health Club also entitles you to:
- 10% discount on routine procedures such as neutering and in-house dental procedures
- 10% off kennel cough vaccination
- Free of charge nail trims and anal gland expression
- Discounted microchipping

Pet Insurance
We never want money to be an issue should your pet require treatment but there is also no doubt that the provision of high quality veterinary care can be costly.
It is for this reason we recommend all our clients take out a good quality pet insurance product. We are a Vetsure-accredited practice and, as such, promote the Vetsure range of pet insurance products. As a recognised practice we beneļ¬t from active communication channels with the Vetsure team. This means that we can obtain pre-authorisation prior to starting treatment and can help make the claim process as easy as possible.
